Project Plan

Project Name: Stronger Together \ Inter-Community Language Schools Badminton Challenge (hereto refer as “this project”)

Funding for this project has been provided by the NSW Government.

Project Length

1 November 2021-31 October 2022

Project Primary Purpose:

NSW Epping West Chinese School will lead this project that improve outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse communities.  Through this project, we aim at strengthening relationships for families and communities to work together; foster healthy family relationships; improve mental health, wellbeing and cohesive outcomes to families and communities where community language schools are concerned. We will also support diverse communities to develop socially inclusive strategies and engagement process that strengthen community capacity building skills to increase resilience, readily solve problems and embrace new opportunities.

The project will complement existing services.

This project not only can assist smooth settlement of new arrivals, but also increase shared sense of value and belongings within Community Language schools and ethical communities. There is a need to continue services/programs developed as part of this project after the funding period has ended.

Extent of benefit to the community: Community Language Schools across NSW especially metropolitan areas and their stakeholders particularly students. The target group will be better off as a result of participating in the project

*All volunteers should have Working with children check verified through working with children check system under Epping West Chinese School. Staffing may vary due to circumstance. Volunteers is encouraged to obtain Covid -9 infection control certificate. Strictly follow NSW public health order

*The personal information to collect: Community Language School name, Contact person and email address, student name and division to play for. The tournament is covered by Sports Insurance.


Team Tournament Rule:

The competition will have two age divisions (U12 & U17).

U12 Division: 5-12 years old (1/1/2017 to 31/12/2007)

U17 Division: 13-17 years old (1/1/2006- 31/12/2005)

Each team should have four players, including at least one girl.

Each round will consist of two Singles matches and one Doubles match. Players can play in any game regardless of gender. The strongest Singles player should play in the first Singles match (this must be decided beforehand, players will not be allowed to switch before the game). No player from a team is allowed to play in two matches in a round.

U12 qualification matches will be played in a one-set, 21-point format. U12 finals matches and all U17 matches will be played in a one-set, 30-point format. There is no tie-break system. Matches won, points won and points lost in all matches are counted towards a team’s final score, that will determine whether a team makes it into the quarter finals.

Group Stage

Teams in each group will play each other in a round robin. Each round (three matches) needs to be completed in 60 minutes. The winners in each group will directly qualify for the quarter finals. The remaining quarter final positions will be determined by the best scores of the remaining teams.

Finals

Teams that qualify for the finals will be seeded based on their performance scores (based on points won over points lost) from their group games.
